Ouse Walks & Talks: Flood: Past, Present & Future. Hosted by Human Nature.

  11.03.23

Our friends at Human Nature are running a series of river walks, guided by different expert guests and their specialised team to explore and connect with our River Ouse. Each walk will focus on a different theme, reflecting on how we relate to our rivers.

Their fourth tour of the series will be led by Fred Labbe from Expedition, civil & flood engineers on the Phoenix. You will explore the impacts of the historic Lewes flood in October 2000 and how we can protect ourselves in the future. The tour will begin at Phoenix House (BN7 2QJ) at 11am before setting off on foot, led by our guide. The tour will last around an hour as we explore the site and the discuss how improved flood defences will be built, protecting the new neighbourhood and Pells area. The walk will end at Beak where we will be showing FLOOD by Mick Hawksworth, a 22-minute film created about the Lewes flood. After the viewing you can enjoy a pint and a chat!

Places are limited. Proceeds to go Love Our Ouse Charity.
